With the release of his 2010 LP, Machines Hate Me, Dibia$e boldly announced his presence in the South Los Angeles electronic and hip-hop scenes. The dusty soul and arcade game samples, laid-back funk and no frill beats of his early career were strong examples of instrumental hip-hop done right. But as Dibia$e began to make a name for himself, he also began to expand the direction his music would continue to take. This all led up to Machines Hate Me, which incorporated inspiration from the jazzy, space-beat sounds of Los Angeles-based producers such as Flying Lotus into his now more progressive sound.
