The Southern California-based band Touché Amoré is a post-hardcore outfit that was part of the screamo revival when it formed in 2007. The band was an incendiary response to what its members saw as a cesspool of greed and glamour that had overtaken their hometown of Los Angeles. After the release of its debut album To the Beat of a Dead Horse in 2009, Touché Amoré earned acclaim from underground and independent music publications, and even broke into mainstream media with its follow-up record, Parting the Sea. The band has been seen as a unifying force of sorts, not only for its genre-bridging music but also for the emotionally charged messages it delivers through its music.
