Thiago Pethit is a folk singer/songwriter from Sao Paolo, Brazil taking a path in music rarely traveled by his Brazilian peers, many of whom are more concerned with writing party music. However, despite Pethit's distaste for the mainstream, much of his music is actually played by some of Brazil's hottest nightclubs. Some describe Thiago's songwriting as a fascinating synthesis of bossa-nova, tropicalia and other Brazilian pop music, with dark, folk stylings that for many recalls the music of Tom Waits and Elliot Smith.
