The Roving Gamblers is the "adult" project of The Biscuit Brothers, a four-piece band that broadcasts children's television programs on PBS, performs family concerts and advocates musical education. Forming its side band in 2009, after receiving a flood of requests from parents who watched The Biscuit Brothers with their children, the Austin-based band maintained many elements of its original sound, but removed the children's theme, instead focusing on standard country music motifs: love, loss and drinking. The band released a debut album a year later that was made up of songs it had written in spare moments on the road while performing as The Biscuit Brothers.
