The artists signed to Hozac Records are almost unanimously vintage-sounding garage bands composed of teenagers. Fittingly, The People's Temple, as a member of the Hozac Records roster, falls under this category. Based out of Lansing, Michigan, the four-piece is made up of two sets of brothers with a penchant for 60s music, which is reflected in the band's music. While most garage bands have a tendency to focus entirely on the scuzzy, lo-fi nature of this genre, The People's Temple provides a pleasant reprieve from this cliche, incorporating elements from British psych, California surf and even some early shoegaze. Known to occasionally partake in acoustic performances - an almost unheard of act amongst most modern garage bands that tend to rely on the feedback of electronics to hide their musical flaws - The People's Temple is certainly a band to keep an eye on.
