Part of the American alternative hip-hop collective known as Doomtree, Sims is a rapper based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He met fellow rapper P.O.S. in high school and soon the two were crafting beats and rhymes together, burning them onto CD-Rs and performing wherever they could. These humble beginnings would form the eventual core of Doomtree, a label and group that allows hip-hop to take the form of whatever each particular contributing member wants it to be, with little to no regard for popular genre trends. For his part, Sims plays it pretty straight, telling tales of overcoming a tortured childhood and working through personal issues in his testimonial raps. He continues to tour and record regularly, both with Doomtree and out on his own.
