Miila and the Geeks

Tokyo's Miila and the Geeks is a punk band created in the spirit of the 1990s riot grrrl movement. The trio is lead by female singer Moe Wadaka, who is without a doubt the central energetic force in the band. Miila and the Geeks employ an interesting combination of lo-fi, broken instrument sounds with the use of a saxophone, and has released a number of cassettes tapes, preferring their sound quality and ease of release. The group made its American debut at the 2011 SXSW music festival in Austin, Texas.
