Lillian Berlin, lead singer/songwriter for the St. Louis-based alternative rock band, Living Things, is fairly outspoken with his political beliefs. He interjects his polarizing stances on various hotbed subjects in many of his song lyrics and often uses the stage as a platform to communicate his personal political ideologies in concert. In 2001, Berlin was stabbed in the leg when he was crowd-surfing at a concert in Kansas--earlier in the show, Berlin had made some anti-Bush remarks. A few years later, in 2003, Berlin was shot at by three men behind a Dallas music hall. While he might be the scorn of a few individuals who don't agree with his political stances, Berlin writes fairly catchy songs and manages to put on a high-energy stage show whenever he performs. Living Things released its debut album, Black Skies in Broad Daylight, in 2004 and has maintained a fairly busy touring and recording schedule ever since.
