Lars Vognstrup is a Danish musician who has had a number of successful releases in Europe, in addition to serving as a backing musician with notable bands like IMA Robot and Dead Man's Bones in the United States. While playing in these various projects he was never the sole driving force or main songwriter and was never properly able to communicate his musical message through song. This all changed, however, with the formation of Lars and the Hands of Light. When Vognstrup was in Los Angeles recording with Dead Man's Bones, he assembled a group of musicians with a common love of psychedelic folk. After a few jam session proved fruitful, the band, dubbed Lars and the Hands of Light, decided to record a few of its songs. These tracks received EP releases and in 2010 the band finished work on its debut LP, The Looking Glass. The group makes an easy to like style of 60s-inspired indie rock with catchy guitar hooks and memorable choruses, and as the group continues to tour and release new studio material, its notoriety will surly grow.
