Karkwa

Karkwa is a Canadian indie rock band whose name is derived from the phonetic reading of the French word meaning "a quiver of arrows." Singing in both English and French, the Montreal-based band is a critical darling, as evidenced by the band's winning of the Polaris Music Prize in 2010 for their acclaimed album Les Chemins de verre. Like its beloved compatriot band The Arcade Fire, Karwa's music typically starts with folkie singer/songwriter-style songs that expertly build into swirling, gargantuan epics.
