HORSE the Band is an American post-hardcore band from Lake Forest, California. Formed in 1999, the band consists of Nathan Winneke (vocals, keyboards), Erik Engstrom (guitar, vocals), David Isen (bass, vocals) and Dashiell Arkenstone (drums). The band has released five studio albums, starting with their debut album, The Mechanical Hand, in 2005. HORSE the Band's music is a unique blend of metal, punk, and electronic music, often referred to as "Nintendocore" due to the heavy use of Nintendo-style video game sounds in their music. Their lyrics often focus on themes of fantasy, science fiction, and video games. The band has toured extensively throughout the United States and Europe, and has performed at festivals such as Warped Tour, Download Festival, and SXSW. HORSE the Band has been praised for their energetic live performances and their unique blend of genres. They have been cited as an influence by many bands in the post-hardcore and metalcore genres, and have been featured in numerous publications, including Alternative Press, Kerrang!, and Revolver. The band continues to tour and record, and is currently working on their sixth studio album.
