Gudrid Hansdottir

Halfway between Scotland and Iceland sits a chain of 18 islands with a surprisingly active music scene called the Faroe Islands. From this bucolic setting comes the equally bucolic chamber pop of Gudrid Hansdottir. The chanteuse - alternately singing in English and her native Faroe - self-released an album that quickly became the best-selling CD in the islands and has since trekked her gracefully tuneful mixture of bouncy folk and artful pop around the globe.
