At first blush, to the untrained and/or overly cocky ear, doing what Animal Collective does doesn't seem all that difficult. But, as countless bands have since discovered, aping Brooklyn's finest is infinitely more difficult than it appears. One of the few to take what AnCo & Co. have done and expand upon it is Golden Ages, the solo, bedroom recording project of a young Philadelphia-area cognitive science student. Appropriately, Golden Ages is a pretty heady trip of chirping electronics, swirling synths, distorted samples and more joyous uplift than 99% of other bedroom projects combined.
