Once the Texas-based powerpop group Cotton Mather broke up in 2003, singer/songwriter Robert Harrison needed an outlet for his music. It ended up taking him three years but he formed Future clouds and Radar with various musicians who seemed keen on a music collaboration with Harrison. The ensemble had high ambitions when it released its self-titled debut in 2007 as a double-disc that featured 27 songs and although record was not commercially successful, it was well-reviewed by critics.
