Fat Pimp started gaining attention when performing for classmates in high school and gained even more popularity performing while attending Texas Southern University. Fat Pimp mixes his Southern style raps with crunk beats; most of his beats involve sampling club staples illegally. Because of this, most of the music he has released has been primarily underground and off the record. Making mix-tape after mix-tape and hustling them out on the street eventually landed Fat Pimp on the billboard charts. Fat Pimp was able to spread his music virally and sold 7000 copies of his Bad As I Wanna Be mix-tape on twitter in its first week in 2010.
