Originally operating under the lengthy moniker, Dietzche V and the Abominable Snowman, the electropop duo of Jered Stuffco and Darren Veres now go by the much simpler name of DVAS. Formed in Edmonton, Canada in 2003, the group is rooted in disco, French house and synth-based pop, combining them all into a club-friendly sound that has garnered attention in Canada along with a recording deal with popular electronic label, Upper Class Recordings. Despite the fact that DVAS regularly employs sturdy house beats and swirling electronics, it balances everything out with real drums and bass, adding a nice live/digital hybrid touch to the proceedings. Melodically, Stuffco and Veres seem to have a soft spot for American 80s pop vocalists, as a certain retro vibe is maintained throughout. DVAS regularly releases singles and mix-tapes online and has also become in-demand in recent years for its remix work.
