Carlos Soul Slinger, who goes by the name DJ Soul Slinger, is a Brazilian-born DJ who was instrumental in bringing genres such as drum 'n bass and jungle stateside as a member of New York's electronic music scene in the 1980s and 90s. He also has his record label, clothing line and record store all operating under the name Liquid Sky Design. Soul Slinger's passion for breakbeats and aggressive techno styles made him a prominent purveyor of jungle whose influence continues to be felt to this day. His 1997 debut, Don't Believe, proved that he is a purist of the genre at heart, refusing to divulge in the progressive, forward-looking additions to the genre that up-and-comers were utilizing both in the UK and the United States. This stubborn adherence to his roots, however, is what's kept Soul Slinger an in-demand DJ whose career has outlasted many other artists who have come and gone since he got his start.
