Disco Doom (a band that has nothing to do with either disco or doom metal) is a noise-pop four-piece that's based out of Zurich. The band was conceived in 1998, when its members--all of whom were seasoned veterans on the local scene by this point--came together to create music inspired by the garage and punk-influenced indie bands of the US in the mid-90s. Apparently the music it created did its job, as soon Disco Doom found itself opening shows across the world for some of its biggest inspirations, including Built to Spill and Dinosaur Jr. Stripped-down and at times severely raw, the group's music certainly won't suit everyone's tastes. But those looking for compact, noisy pop rock songs covered in feedback and delivered in a loose, raucous fashion should dig it.
