Dexter Freebish is an alternative pop-rock band from Austin, Texas. The band formed in 1999 and consists of guitarist Scott Romig, bassist Chris Lowe, drummer Rob Schilz and a lead singer who simply goes by Kyle. Inspired by a first place victory in a local John Lennon Songwriting Contest, all four members decided to devote their energy to the band, leading to the 2000 debut LP, A Life of Saturdays. Dexter Freebish's sound is one of straightforward, catchy pop over a backing of mellow rock with both electric and acoustic guitars. Folksy vocals and three-part harmonies factor into the band's focus on big, melodic hooks that are destined to wind up on modern pop-rock radio and Hollywood film soundtracks.
