For a Dutch band with members who are just out of their teens, Death Letters is fairly steeped in the history of American blues and rock. The two-piece named itself after a song by legendary 1930s blues musician, Son House, whose Delta blues style became a huge inspiration for Death Letters. The duo's version of the blues, however, means distorted guitars and heavy drumming; when combined, add up to a sparsely effective sound that has earned comparisons to blues revivalists such as the White Stripes and the Black Keys. The band's self-titled debut LP was released in 2009.
