The Manchester duo, Brown Brogues (which takes its name from the leather dress shoe), doesn't make the type of music one might expect from a band with that name, as nothing dressed up or polished is present in the group's music. Instead, Brown Brogues creates sludgy, lo-fi rock that purposely discards all aspects of quality production or instrumental prowess. Preferring to play dive bars, where its sound seems truly at home, Brown Brogues encourages spilled beer and moshing with its sloppy guitar work, aggressive drumming and vocals drowned in a monotone shout. While the duo doesn't seem to have any intention to progress its sound or make it more accessible to a wider audience, Brown Brogues has contentedly found its niche on the dive bar circuit.
