Winnipeg five-piece Boats might not have the most distinct name, but it does have a rather distinct sound, making at least its music difficult to confuse with any other band. Essentially, the solo project of Canadian singer/songwriter Mat Klachefsky - who writes all the parts for each band member - sets his indie pop apart with his bizarrely high-pitched, naturally helium-filled voice. While many might find the pitch of his voice far too similar to a recording of Alvin & the Chipmunks, others find it charming and complimentary to the band's jangly pop and quirky lyrics.
