Initially formed by brothers Justin and Jeremy Furstenfeld in 1995, Blue October is a four-piece alternative rock band from Houston, TX. The Furstenfeld's parents, who were the band's managers at the time, negotiated with connections at their local news station and got the channel to feature Blue October on multiple early morning broadcasts. These performances stirred anticipation for the group's debut album, 1998's The Answers, and grabbed the attention of Universal Records, whom the band signed with in 1999. While Blue October had a fairly tumultuous relationship with the label, which subsequently dropped the band before resigning them, it has managed to maintain a solid fan base with its straightforward alternative rock sound full of emotional lyrics. Universal went on to release several of the band's follow-up albums, including the commercially successful Foiled, in 2006.
