Despite the fact that the members of music collective Black Gandhi were all raised in Barcelona with no ties to African or Jamaican culture, the group creates roots reggae that sounds as though it could easily have originated in Kingston. Initially drawn to one another by a communal love for the Rastafarian way, peace and positive spirituality, the group soon realized that it should make music together and named itself with reference to Mahatma Gandhi and black culture in 2006. With quite the following in Europe and Japan, Black Gandhi continues to spread its music and message around the globe.
