Agent Ribbons

If there's one thing to be said about the all-girl Austin, Texas-based surf pop band Agent Ribbons, it's that the three members of the band write nostalgic music that begs to be compared to a few female pop groups from the 60s. The fact that the members of Agent Ribbons aren't necessarily skilled musicians doesn't really matter, because the group's songs speak for themselves and beg for repeated listens at times. While the band's sound is clearly a byproduct of vintage jangle pop influences, the women of the group have a strong psychobilly aesthetic--complete with dramatic hair styles, strange eyebrow shapes and slightly odd clothing preferences. Formed in 2006, the group was initially based in Sacramento, California, but after feeling the confines of the Golden State's languid capital city, the group decided to strike out and head for the musically rich city in the Lone Star State.
