In 2010, singer/songwriter Daniel Strauch teamed up with post hardcore record producer, Jeremy Griffith, to record a set of piano-based songs. Not intending to do anything with them, Strauch was surprised when friends got a hold of the demos and began spreading them around his native town of Baltimore. Inspired by the strong reception, he turned to childhood friend, Michael Marx, and the two began to form Alice Anna. The band is almost completely void of its members' post hardcore roots, instead creating a power rock-heavy form of emo pop, with occasional punk influences. Alice Anna released its self-titled debut album in 2010.
