Overcasters

With its plaintive, haunting indie rock songs run through neo-psychedelia and noise rock filters, Denver's Overcasters create music steeped in heavy guitar rock from the past 40 years. The four-piece combines brawny, blues-based riffs with twangy vocals that rely heavily on reverb and echo. The result is a spacey and dense form of rock music that owes as much to the heft of Black Sabbath as it does to the emotional songwriting of current indie bands like Band of Horses and Arcade Fire. Overcasters' second LP, The Whole Sea Is Raging, was released in 2010.
