Jack's Mannequin frontman Andrew McMahon started his career with the piano-driven, poppy emo-punk band, Something Corporate. In 2005, McMahon pieced together Jack's Mannequin, aiming to explore some more mature, guitar-based alternative rock styles that didn't quite fit with his main project. Soon after the group's debut album, Everything in Transit, came out in 2005, tragedy struck as McMahon suffered through years of a nearly fatal combination of leukemia and pneumonia. While still technically in recovery, he eventually gained enough of his health back to rejoin Jack's Mannequin to record a followup album, entitled The Glass Passenger in 2008. Recently, McMahon has been able to tour and fully recommit himself to his passion, making Jack's Mannequin an inspiring musical tale of resiliency.
