A Man of No Importance is a musical based on the 1994 film of the same name by Albert Finney with music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and book by Terrence McNally. The musical is set in Dublin and is about the director of an amateur acting troupe and his struggle to have Oscar Wilde's controversial play Salome performed at his church. The musical premiered in 2002 to much critical and audience acclaim, earning awards in 2003 for the best off-Broadway musical from the Outer Critics Circle Award.
