In interviews, Dutch producer and DJ, Sander Kleinenberg, is known to deflect the dozens of splintered electronic genres thrown at him and simply describe his music as house. Fans and onlookers, however, will have noticed gradual shifts in and out of styles throughout his career. Kleinenberg began to work as a rock and pop DJ as a teenager in the mid-80s, eventually turning his focus to electronic music. His 2000 single, "My Lexicon," has become a staple of progressive house music and helped him gain notice in the electronic community. In the later part of the decade, Kleinenberg began to move away from his trance and house roots, embracing electro, disco, funk and glitch influences. He was voted the 70th best DJ in DJ Magazine's "Top 100" poll in 2009 and has remixed songs for such high-profiles artists as Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson.
