Powerdove is a baroque-influenced indie folk outfit based out of England. Though the band performs live as a trio or quartet, Powerdove is known as the pet project of lead songstress, Annie Lewandowski. Her quiet, reflective songs contain a pastoral beauty reminiscent of 60s folk, with a bit of underlying and sometimes jarring tension just beneath the surface. Clearly inspired by classical music as well, powerdove incorporates pianos, harps, accordion, strings and other old-fashioned instruments into its recordings and live performances. The group has also won itself some fans across the Atlantic, as evidenced by its debut album being recorded and produced by American indie rock mainstay, John Dieterich from Deerhoof, in 2010.
