The Luyas is yet another addition to Montreal's burgeoning music scene. Having kicked around and played in various groups throughout the city, the band's five members came together with the hopes of utilizing some idiosyncratic twists to help establish their take on indie rock. The result is a tuneful but quirky blend of beautifully haunting melodic work, inventive instrumentation and enough jarring dissonance to keep listeners on their toes. In the live setting, the Luyas perform in a stripped down, yet diverse format, using guitars, French horn, keyboards and percussion to enliven its songs.
