Quirky Canadian indie rock singer/songwriter, Reg Vermue (who goes by Gentleman Reg), might be recognizable to some music fans for his occasional contributions to groups like Broken Social Scene, Arcade Fire and the Hidden Cameras, as well as for his supporting role in the 2006 indie film, Shortbus. In his solo work, Vermue can pull off catchy and vibrant indie rock just as often as he'll settle into a more subdued and folksy tune. What ties it all together, however, is the unusual tone and breathy style of his voice, which is sure to rope in as many listeners as it confuses. A passionate advocate for gay rights, Vermue will sometimes subtly work these and other socio-political issues into his lyrics.
