Formerly the primary writers for band Fertile Crescent, Sara Magenheimer and Eben Portnoy broke away from the group to form WOOM. With their former group, the two spent a year opening for popular indie band Deerhoof, then decided to spend a few months on an isolated farm in Massachusetts to focus on their new album. What emerged instead was an entirely new band and full album of material entitled Muu's Way, which balanced itself between minimalist post punk and experimental indie rock, all while maintaining a strong DIY aesthetic. The duo quickly signed to Ba Da Bing Records and embarked on a tour with another indie fav Xiu Xiu.
