The Art Department is probably the best band name possible for the Baltimore trio that formed in 2008. The group's music is highly awkward and experimental, seeming as though it was made by three high schoolers that sat around in the school's art department everyday at lunch, preferring to paint and talk about comic books with the ex-hippie teacher, rather than socialize with the popular kids outside. When the group performs, this stigma still holds true, with the lead singer quickly muttering strange lyrics in a falsetto voice and the guitarist and drummer facing away from the audience, playing tight impeccable rhythms, but playing them more for themselves than for the audience. With each song lasting about a minute and a half, The Art Department gets through its music as quickly as possible, but leaves behind an impression of three guys who know how to play their instruments.
