Ben Kweller knew he wanted to be a musician from the time a friend showed him the piano chords to the traditional tune "Heart and Soul" as a kid. By age 10, he had a handful of compositions under his belt and knew his way around a drum set to boot. His first foray into the quirky pop-rock world that he'd later build his name upon came with the group Radish. The alt-rock band made some noise throughout the 90s, but never enjoyed any lasting mainstream success. By the early 2000s, Kweller was out on his own and enjoying the kudos being thrown his way for his 2002 album, Sha Sha and its hit single, "Wasted & Ready." Kweller certainly isn't a household name these days, but his solid string of pop-rock albums and collaborations with the likes of Ben Folds has kept the shaggy-haired Texan afloat.
