Cecil Frena acted as front man and screamer for multiple Canadian hardcore bands until he blew out his throat during one tour. As hardcore screamo could no longer be his genre of choice, Frena moved to San Francisco and began making erratic electro-bedroom pop, a change of pace his vocal chords, undoubtedly, thank him for. Frena dubbed his new project Born Gold and became a whiz on the sound board, splicing digital noise with syncopated rhythms, bubbly synth and poppy vocals. Frena convinced some of his friends to play with him and successfully added live instrumentation to his already overflowing soundscape, essentially creating a livetronica playground. Chaotic and boisterous, Born Gold's live shows are just as intensely upbeat as his music and a guaranteed good time.
