London DJ and producer Philip Gamble, who goes by the Girl Unit moniker, has quite the following in underground UK clubs, but his style of music sounds as though he was raised across the pond - in US underground clubs. An amalgamation of Detroit techno, Miami bass and Chicago ghetto house, the music of Girl Unit displays the variety of sounds the US electro scene has to offer. Perhaps this is why Girl Unit is such a phenomena in his native London, because he stands out amongst the masses of dubstep and grime DJs his home city offers up. Since establishing himself in the UK and dropping a full length along with a smattering of remixes, Girl Unit recently returned to his music's land of origin, the US, for an extensive tour.
