Inspired by the Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor movie of the same name, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is a whirlwind of glam, glitz, romance and heartbreak. Set in Paris in 1900, the story is about Christian, an aspiring writer, who gets submerged in the Bohemian culture that surrounds him at the time. A chance encounter with the popularly sought-after courtesan, Satine, establishes a deep bond between the two. The plot follows the duo as they fall in love, try to establish their dreams, battle with dire circumstances and face acute heartbreak, all of this while showcasing superficial grandeur. While its charm and splendor are not lost on the audience, the musical is also a poignant reminder of the farce that show-business can be. With foot-tapping numbers like "Spectacular Spectacular" and "Hindi Sad Diamonds," Moulin Rouge! The Musical has dazzled and left the audience in awe. It premiered and successfully ran at Boston's Emerson Colonial Theater in 2018. It opened on Broadway's Al Hirschfeld Theater in 2019 and has been very well received.
