Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe, better known professionally as Lil Tecca, got into rapping at the age of nine, while swapping freestyle verses with his friends on his Xbox. Some of these verses - which were essentially diss tracks - made their way to SoundCloud. By the time Sharpe reached middle school, he was dead-set on making a career in music. He collaborated with his friend Lil Gummybear on the track "tectri," which was released in 2017. His big breakthrough came in 2018 with the single "Ransom," which peaked at number four on American charts and garnered a high number of plays and views on Spotify and YouTube respectively. His debut mixtape, titled We Love You Tecca, was issued in 2019 and charted at number four on the US Billboard 200.
