Taking its name from a souvenir shirt front-man Xavier Boyer's father received in in his youth, Tahiti 80 make new wave influenced indie pop. Though the five-piece, founded in 1993, was born and raised in Rouen, France, the group decided to sing its music in English, with the hopes of landing a record deal and fame in the States. After releasing an EP that caught the attention of record heads, the band flew to New York to lay down tracks for its debut full length. Since then, the band has enjoyed widespread success across the globe, landing songs on popular American television series, recording tracks featuring popular British musicians and touring extensively.
