Combining French lyrics with characteristically American rock n' roll, Katerine Gierak formed the four-piece Mademoiselle K. Though she began taking music lessons at the age of four, after seeing a street musician play the guitar, Gierak didn't think of writing her own music until after failing her exams to go onto into a teaching profession, which made her delve head first into taking up music as a career. After being included on the French Kiss Tour in 2007, which celebrated World Music Day in India for a week, Gierak was confident enough to solidify Mademoiselle K's lineup and began releasing music to positive acclaim throughout France.
