Swedish hard rock/heavy metal band 220 Volt formed in 1979, making its debut performance at a school dance. After recording a 7" single, which wound up on US radio, the band was noticed by Sony and signed a record deal. Though the band had a successful run, selling out arenas throughout Scandinavia and opening for acts such as AC/DC and Nazareth in other countries, 220 Volt called it quits in 1992. In 2002, however, the band's original members decided to regroup and have since released a few greatest hits compilations and toured worldwide.
