One of the best-selling German pop stars of his generation, Peter Maffay is a singer/songwriter who rose to fame in the 1970s. Starting with his debut hit single "Du," released in 1970s, Maffay was catapulted into the German spotlight for his digestible rock sound. He released a full-length album in 1970, titled Für das Mädchen, and quickly rose as a national icon in Germany. Within the next decade, he released ten more studio albums and continued his ride to legendary status into the 1980s with Revanche, his 1980 album and best-selling record to date. As his synthesizer rock became dated into the late 1980s and early 1990s, Maffay has given way to occasional dives into full-bore blues-rock jams, complete with his best Springsteen impression. After over 40 albums and a career that spans half a century, he continues to record and perform his music for live audiences around Germany.
