Marcus is a contemporary theater drama set in the projects of Louisiana only days prior to the impending destruction caused by Hurricane Katrina. In addition to being a stand-alone play, Marcus also acts as the concluding play to The Brother/Sister Plays trilogy written by Tarell Alvin McCraney. The story follows a young 16 year-old African American man as he searches for his place in the world as a young gay man in the South. With what is being heralded as a remarkable coming-of-age story set during an especially traumatic time in American history, Marcus effectively communicates both the humorous and tragic aspects of a young man's quest for identity.
