The New York Lizards is a Major League Lacrosse men's field lacrosse team based out of Hemstead, New York--a town located on Long Island. Founded in 2001 when the MLL was conceived, the Lizards actually played and lost the league's inaugural game against the Chesapeake Bayhawks. The team plays at James M. Shuart Stadium, located on the campus of Hofstra University.
