The Seattle Sounders FC is a professional soccer club that competes in the Western Division of Major League Soccer. Founded in 2007 as an expansion team--making it the fifteenth team in the league--its name was chosen by fans and Seattle-ites through an online poll. In 2009, the Sounders won the US Open Cup, helping build a reputation for the club as one of the more talented and adept teams in the league.
