The San Jose Earthquakes is a professional soccer team based out of San Jose, California that is part of the Western Division of Major League Soccer. Originally going by the name San Jose Clash, the team was founded in 1996 and actually took part in the first MLS game ever, defeating D.C. United 1-0. The team plays home games at Buck Shaw Stadium on the Santa Clara University campus.
