Blink 182 is a band from San Diego that received mainstream cultural acceptance with the release of its third album, Enema of the State, in 1999. Initially formed in 1992 by three childhood friends, the members of the group took influences from punk bands like the Ramones, Bad Religion and The Offspring, and blended a simple yet aggressive instrumental style with a more commercially friendly pop sound to create a well balanced, pop-meets-punk sonic aesthetic. Though band's first drummer left Blink 182 in 1998, the two remaining members didn't hesitate to recruit noted punk stickman Travis Barker to hit the skins and cymbals. With a new drummer, Blink went on to attain the best success of its career. In the subsequent years, the group's popularity started to wane and in 2005, the three members decided to go their own respective ways. However, the magnetic energy of the trio was too much to ignore and in 2009, Blink 182 reformed and the band has managed to tour frequently and release new albums of original material ever since.
