IK Sirius first caught people’s notice when it reached the final stage of the Svenska Mästerskapet in 1924. After undergoing years of financial difficulties the club rose above it all in 1973 when it was promoted to the Allsvenskan. This high, however, lasted for only a year as the club was relegated in the next year. The club gained promotion to the top league after over four decades in 2016. The club plays its home matches at the Studenternas IP, Uppsala.
